What Is A Bengal ?

Based on crosses between Asian leopard cats that live wild in south-eastern Asia and domestic cats, the Bengal was first produced in the United States . It seems to have preserved the self-assurance and confidence of the Asian leopard cat in conjunction with the affectionate disposition of the domestic, producing a miniature leopard with a loving nature.

The appearance of the Bengal should be as close as possible to that of the first breed, but without the possibility of its being mistaken for an actual Asian leopard cat. The texture of this breed's coat is unique, having the feel of satin or silk and a glittering appearance as if sprinkled with gold dust or fragments of pearl.
